Why Use Vaginal Steaming To Support Fertility?

One of the most common reasons after cramps that women turn to vaginal steaming is for fertility.

No matter what you call it (yoni steaming, perineal steaming, pelvic steaming or vaginal steaming) this ancient modality has been used to support fertility, break up negative menstrual symptoms and recover in the postpartum.

Why Steaming?

Often because of what it is (steaming your private parts) women are not open to this modality until they feel like they have nowhere else to turn to get results.

They can’t get answers from a Western practitioner. They feel like they have seen every doctor on the planet. They feel like they have had every test imaginable and still don’t have an answer to the questions that plague them.

Does this resonate with you?

I too have experienced this frustration and heartache. The inability to get answers is reason I found this modality. Western medicine had no answers for me. “Unexplained infertility” was the roadblock I found myself up against.

The oriental medicine toolkit is uniquely equipped to address imbalances in the body that stand in the way of women’s fertility.

Acupuncture, herbs and vaginal steaming are a powerful trifecta for addressing the imbalances that hold women back from their goals. This is why I practice from an eastern medicine perspective.

Steaming addresses the intersection of many of these imbalances that stand in the way of a healthy conception.

What Does Steaming Do?

Steam is a powerful medium from a physical and emotional standpoint.

Steaming increases circulation to the pelvis. Increasing the movement of blood and Qi has a lot of valuable benefits such as (but not limited to):

  • Decreasing cramps

  • Elevating healing after surgery or birth

  • Reducing the occurrence of clots

  • Increased vitality and more

This increase in circulation is critical for fertility as well. The old adage “warm feet are fertile feet” really is true. Warm feet are an indicator of healthy circulation in the lower half of the body.

Proper circulation is important for ovulation. A healthy well developed endometrial lining are important in the conception equation.

The Power of CV1

Steam stimulates important acupuncture points on the perineum that help with a wide range of physical and emotional challenges that can show up.

I truly believe the stimulation of CV1 (conception vessel 1) is one of the biggest reasons steam is so powerful for both men and women.

CV1, known as the House of the Spirit, is a big point to move emotions.

If you have struggled with:

  • Pelvic trauma

  • Birth trauma

  • Sexual trauma

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

The movement of blood and Qi in this area of your body has incredible therapeutic benefit. Steaming helps your body to release any conscious or unconscious connection with these challenges.

When things are “stuck” in this area of the body, women struggle with fertility issues, management of anxiety and more.

Steam helps the body to release what no longer serves it – emotionally and physically.

Brown blood in the period diminishes and for many disappears. Clotting decreases and the period more efficiently flushes as it is supposed to each month.

Your period is meant to be a cleanse. The more efficiently it can do its job, the healthier you start the next cycle.

Steam delivers herbal properties to the body. These herbs work for 48-72 hours after each steam session giving the body more tools for healing.

A healthy cycle, proper period care and steaming are all important factors for successful conception. For more in-depth information on all of these topics The Tao of Women is your online digital reference in optimizing your health and wellbeing.
