How Vaginal Steaming Cools The Symptoms of Menopause

Menopause is another stage of a woman’s life where vaginal steaming can play an important role in establishing harmony.

Like menstruation, it can bring its own list of undesired symptoms if the body is not in balance.

It is common in our culture to use hot flashes and night sweats synonymously with menopause. Contrary to this belief, menopause can occur without these symptoms.

Vaginal steaming and food therapy can support the body to alleviate the symptoms commonly experienced during this life transition.

When Should I Experience Menopause?

I am asked this question a lot by clients because so many women over the age of 35 find themselves with a diagnosis of “perimenopause” at the first signs of period abnormalities.

The average age for the onset of menopause is 50. In ancient times, women were having healthy babies and cycles up until they were 49. It is only in more contemporary times that we are seeing the absence of periods and irregularities earlier and doctors are quick to diagnose it as perimenopause.

Diet and lifestyle can have significant contributing factors on the severity of menopause symptoms and when they start showing up.

Symptoms of Menopause

Common symptoms of menopause women experience

  • hot flashes

  • night sweats

  • spontaneous bleeding

  • heavy bleeding

  • large clots

  • vaginal dryness

  • hormonal/emotional imbalance (often anger)

While these are common experiences, they don’t have to be the rule. Menopause symptoms in general are years of menstrual imbalances magnified. If there were years of clots – you will see this magnified.

What Can I Do About Symptoms?

Food therapy, herbs and steam are the keys to alleviating the common symptoms of menopause.

Steaming with a peristeam hydrotherapist will get you the right herbs and steam set up to support your body. The heat that is so common in the body during menopause requires kidney tonics to moisturize and cool the body.

Foods like watermelon, cucumber and tea with nettles are just a few of the foods that will help turn down the internal thermostat. Think about the kinds of foods that feel good to you on a summer day. Many of these foods support the kidneys so there is more “coolant in the car” to keep your body from overheating.

When steaming regularly, it will become clear whether you are truly going through menopause or if there was a menstrual cycle imbalance that needed work.

If you aren’t truly in menopause, the period will return to normal until it is time. A healthy period going into menopause will reduce the symptoms experienced during this transition.

If you are truly in menopause, when your periods do come, they will be red blood only.
